Homage to the Waltz King: Concert Celebrating the 200th Birthday of Johann Strauss (Son)

Selected Overtures, Arias, Waltzes and Polkas

by Johann Strauss (Son), Robert Stolz, Franz Léhar and Josef Strauss

The large orchestral concert in the Rittersaal is dedicated to this year's 200th birthday of Johann Strauss (son). As the master of Viennese dance music and the undisputed "Waltz King", he characterised the music of the 19th century like no other. Under the direction of Manfred Honeck, a proven specialist in this repertoire, some of his most famous and beautiful works will be performed, including the Kaiserwalzer, the rousing Wiener Blut and the fiery overture to the operetta Der Zigeunerbaron. His brother Josef Strauss' Plappermäulchen and rarities such as the Kaiser Franz Josef Rettungs-Jubel-Marsch round off the programme. The soloist is Magdalena Lucjan with arias from Die Fledermaus and Die lustige Witwe. The young soprano already presented herself to Wolfegg audiences last year and has since been honoured as the winner of the renowned NEUE STIMMEN 2024 singing competition.
