Pablo Ferrández: Spanish Star Cellist in Wolfegg

At this year’s International Wolfegg Concerts, the Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández will step in for Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Together with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern under the baton of Manfred Honeck, he will perform Joseph Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major on Saturday, 27 June.

Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s ongoing recovery from a finger injury is taking longer than expected, and he has unfortunately had to cancel all his concerts until the end of July 2026 with great regret. He is deeply disappointed not to be able to appear as planned at Manfred Honeck’s festival in Wolfegg this time.

Pablo Ferrández is regarded as one of the outstanding cellists of his generation and was awarded, among others, at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. As an exclusive Sony Classical artist, he captivates audiences worldwide with his musical expressiveness, technical brilliance, and charismatic stage presence. Recent highlights include performances with leading orchestras such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

In the 2025/26 season, Ferrández will make his debuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the SWR Symphonieorchester, among others, and will serve as Artist in Residence with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo and the Sinfonieorchester Castilla y León.
