Princely House – A Tradition of Culture
Wolfegg Castle, which has been owned by the Princely House of Waldburg-Wolfegg and Waldsee for centuries, forms the centrepiece of the concerts. The family is actively involved in the cultivation of classical music and provides one of the most impressive concert halls in southern Germany, the magnificent Knight's Hall.
Their cultural commitment goes far beyond the festival and has a lasting impact on the artistic profile of the region.
The Municipality of Wolfegg
Wolfegg in the Allgäu, situated on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route, offers ideal conditions for an enjoyable stay with its historic buildings and charming surroundings. The wooded landscape is ideal for hiking and cycling, while idyllic ponds and lakes are perfect for swimming and relaxing.
In addition to the International Wolfegg Concerts, the Wolfegg Museums and the Ludwigsburg Festival, which takes place every September in the castle and the baroque church, are also attractions. The Winter Music traditionally marks the atmospheric end of the concert year.

Manfred Honeck - Artistic Director
Since 1994, the internationally acclaimed Austrian conductor Manfred Honeck has had a decisive influence on the direction and character of the concert series as artistic director. With his musical depth, expressiveness and high artistic standards, he has given the festival his unmistakable signature.
Manfred Honeck is music director of the renowned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2008 and is a regular guest conductor with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and the New York Philharmonic.
His close connection to Wolfegg and the Friends of the Wolfegg Concerts characterises the special atmosphere of the festival – borne by artistic excellence and a living musical tradition.
Musical Diversity
For over three decades, Wolfegg hosted to world-class classical stars, celebrated ensembles and outstanding young talents – including members of leading orchestras such as the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics and the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. The Knights Hall has thus become a stage for musical encounters between the generations.
The repertoire ranges from the baroque period to modern and contemporary music – with works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms through to Strauss, Britten and Shostakovich. Again and again, rarely performed compositions and thematically curated programmes set special accents – also in the baroque and the romanesque churches.
This artistic diversity, supported by the personal atmosphere and the historical scenery, makes the International Wolfegg Concerts a festival experience of particular depth and radiance.
